Pastor Mik and Polly came to Grant Reformed Church in the fall of 2009. Prior to that they had been members of Mason County Reformed Church since 1980. Pastor Mik, in his first calling of God, worked for 32 years in the field of special education as a teacher, consultant, and administrator. In 2006, God gave a second calling – the ministry. Mik answered that call, left education, and began studies through the Reformed Church in America’s commissioned pastor program.
In 2008 Mik was commissioned as Pastor of Intercession and Care at Mason County Reformed, and then, in September of 2009, received a call to serve as pastor of Grant Reformed. He and Polly made the move and have been wonderfully blessed to serve in such a loving and giving church. They have been involved with leading small groups, adult education classes, and participating in church activities. Polly started a walking/exercise program for the ladies of the church, joined a bowling team, shares the joys of running power point and video with Vicki, and provides wonderful leadership for the GEMS program each week.
Pastor Mik manages to stay busy with his ministry work, serving as president of the Northern Michigan Classis Executive Board, serving on boards for the Regional Synod of the Great Lakes and the Words of Hope as well as being on the Regional Synod’s Commissioned Pastors Committee and the Grant Area Pastors association.
In their spare time, Pastor Mik and Polly enjoy kayaking, tent camping, biking (Mik does better when he slows down and stays upright on his mountain bike), hiking (went backpacking on Isle Royal - very nice). Polly, an awesome cook, also does some Green Thumb magic with flowers and gardening and is gifted in the areas of crafts and decorating. All in all, following the way of the Lord to, and in, Grant, has made life deeply interesting and enjoyable! Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
